Vineyard

Our family has been the owner-manager of the Château de Varennes since 1809, passing on its know-how for more than 10 generations. The domain encompasses 20 Ha of vineyard facing South on the slopes that border the castle.

Lying in the Beaujolais-Villages appellation, the wine produced by our vineyard – traditionally a red one – is fruity and smooth. It is produced from gamay vines. As for the white wine, it is made of the chardonnay grape variety. Our wines are vinified in the castle storehouse. Part of the production is bottled and sold directly to our customers. A wine merchant distributes the rest in France and abroad.

The diversity of our wines aims at telling the story of our terroir. We offer:

Wine Colour Characteristics Ageing
Nouveau Red Fruity 1 year

Vieilles Vignes Red Powerful 5 years
Cuvée Prestige 1809 Red Structured (raised in oak barrels) 7 years
Rosé Rosé Fruity 2 years
